Snare drum
Kumu snare drums are known for their full, sensitive, healthy sound. An extremely thin and unvented shell, thin SoulRing reinforcement hoops (top 3.6 mm, bottom 1.8 mm), top-notch bearing edges and deep snare beds enable a highly resonant sound, both for loud and soft playing. For the heavy-handed players the snare drums are equipped with a few small vents.
A Kumu specialty is the FreeFrame model, which has a unique structure: the top and bottom halves of the shell squeeze against a bridge in the middle, the tuning lugs and the snares attach to the bridge and the interior of the drum is totally smooth without any holes or screws.
